Fire Protection System Testing / Reports

Requirements

The Fire Code (527 CMR 1.00) requires that fire protection systems are inspected and/or tested regularly.  This is to assure that the systems remain operational throughout the life of the building.  Maintenance of these systems is essential to maintain occupant safety.  For example:

  • Sprinkler systems must be tested in accordance with NFPA 25
  • Fire Alarm Systems must be tested in accordance with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72
  • Fire Extinguishers must be tested in accordance with NFPA 10

Report Submittals

The Reading Fire Department requires that a copy of all reports be uploaded to "The Compliance Engine"

Reports shall be uploaded for the following system types:

  • 5- Year Sprinkler System 
  • Active Smoke Control System 
  • Automatic Closing Fire Assemblies 
  • Automatic Fire Sprinkler System
  • Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning 
  • Commercial Kitchen Hood Suppression System 
  • Emergency Generator 
  • Emergency Radio Responder Coverage System 
  • Fire Alarm System
  • Fire Escape 
  • Fire Pump 
  • Gas Detection System 
  • Paint/Spray Booth 
  • Portable Fire Extinguisher 
  • Special Suppression System 
  • Standpipe
