    Reading Public Library Lawn

    Get outside and read! Take a walk around the library and discover our summer Storywalk featuring A Good Day by Kevin Henkes. This special StoryWalk is supported by the Reading Lions Club and is designed for children with low or no vision to enjoy! Library visitors start at the front door of the library and follow the Braille-enhanced StoryWalk signs to enperience this adorable picture book. The StoryWalk will be on display from August 2nd through August 31st.

  2. Summertime Drive: Help the Reading Food Pantry

    During the summer months, the Reading Food Pantry sees a reduction in donations. Join the RPL in helping to keep the shelves stocked! The library will be collecting paper goods starting on throughout the summer during regular library hours. Just drop items off anytime in the donation box in the library lobby or donate monetary gifts via PayPal or through their Amazon wishlist. The library will be collecting the following items for the Food Pantry: paper towels toilet paper kleenex

  3. Create! Camp Crafts for Adults: Flowerpot Toadstool

    Revisit craft time at summer camp and join librarian and artist Melissa for a relaxing morning of painting! Turn a regular old flowerpot into an adorable toadstool decoration. Pour yourself an iced tea or lemonade, kick back, relax, and create. This event is generously sponsored by The Friends of the Reading Library. Face coverings are not required but strongly recommended while indoors at the Reading Public Library. Please follow the updated COVID-19 guidelines if you’ve tested positive, been in close contact, or are experiencing new symptoms.

  4. Genealogy One-on-One: Private Research Appointment

    Just starting your research into your family history and need some help? Looking to learn more about your house or starting the process of applying for a historic house marker? Book an appointment with our Local History and Genealogy Reference Librarian today! Together, we will sort through your research and make a plan for next steps and how the local history room can help. These meetings will be held in the Local History Room on the 2nd floor of the library. Jocelyn Gould recently joined the RPL staff after spending the last 16 years as an Interpretive Ranger at the National Parks of Boston where she gave tours of the Freedom Trail and Black Heritage Trail and presented talks at various historic sites throughout the city. Her genealogy areas of research include: Acadians in Nova Scotia and New England, North End Italians, veterans of the American Revolution, and the Black community of 19th century Massachusetts.
