    The Town of Reading and the Pleasant Street Senior Center in partnership with the Reading Public Library presents a 6-week ARPA-funded program featuring activities and lectures focusing on a variety of topics related to healthy living. November 16th: Roman Music Therapy – Connecting through music to enhance joy Music is the glue that connects us to others. The socialization provided through music therapy inspires older adults to participate and interact with family, peers or staff, bringing joy, comfort and purpose to their day. The Board Certified Music Therapists at Roman Music Therapy Services are skilled at including everyone in the sessions, adapting music experiences and helping all group members participate to their greatest potential, and come to you equipped with music-making supplies including drums, tambourines, maracas and a guitar!   2. Friends of the Reading Public Library - December Fundraiser Planning Meeting

    The Friends of the Reading Library is a non-profit charitable organization that enhances the library’s programs and services. The Friends’ mission is to hold annual fundraisers in order to sponsor events and programs not funded by the town. Our monthly meetings are held at the library, the 4th Monday of the month from 7-9. We meet from September through May with the exception of December. Please join us if you are interested in supporting our wonderful library and meeting new people.

    Taunya L. Jarzyniecki, LCMHC MLADC, Public Safety Clinician for the Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support will be available to meet with residents at the Reading Public Library. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Ms. Jarzyniecki can assist residents with brief therapeutic support and accessing resources. There is no fee or health insurance needed to meet with Ms.Jarzyniecki and all services are confidential. Stop by and say hello on Wednesdays from 2:00-4:00pm in the Library Lobby or the Children's Room. Please note: If you do not see Taunya sitting in the lobby, please check our signage designating where in the library she will be located.     Inviting Musical Exploration in a Safe and Therapeutic Environment - 8 week series We all seek meaningful relationships and opportunities for growth and progress in our lives. Adults with developmental disabilities including ASD and I/DD also benefit from the opportunity to express themselves and be heard and understood. Come join us in this musical space designed to facilitate meaningful social experiences, encourage creative self-expression, and develop the essential self-advocacy and leadership skills that support a successful transition to adulthood. Participants’ potential is celebrated in this group setting through active music making, songwriting, and musical exploration. This series of programs is designed for adults ages 22 with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). They are not respite programs; caregivers are required to attend. Register using the form below. Indicate how many people will be in your party (participant and caregiver), and include the contact information for one member of your party, so we can contact you in case of program cancellation. Face coverings are not required but are strongly recommended while indoors at the Reading Public Library. Please follow the updated COVID-19 guidelines if you’ve tested positive, been in close contact, or are experiencing new symptoms. Sponsored by the Friends of the Reading Public Library.

    The monthly meeting for the volunteer advisory and support board for the Office of Equity and Social Justice. For more information, please contact Dr. Sudeshna Chatterjee. What is PAIR? The Office of Equity and Social Justice (OESJ) announces the creation of the Partners and Allies for Inclusive Reading (PAIR). As a town-wide network, PAIR will serve as a non-partisan advisory group to the Director of Equity and Social Justice and will assist the division in establishing cross-community partnerships, assessing organizational needs, and collaboratively developing plans and programs to bring the Reading community together for the vision of a Reading for All.
